GeoJSON to GeoTIFF – Vector to Raster Conversion

GeoJSON is an open standard geospatial data interchange format that represents simple geographic features and their non-spatial attributes. It is based on JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) and serves as a format for encoding various geographic data structures.

TIFF, also known as the Tagged Image File Format, is a file format designed for transferring, storing, and displaying raster images. It is commonly used for scanned aerial photography, maps, digital satellite imagery, and other geographic data.

GeoTIFF is a metadata standard that is in the public domain. It enables the embedding of georeferencing information in a TIFF file. This additional information can include projections, coordinate systems, ellipsoids, datums, and all other necessary details to establish the precise spatial reference for the file.

Using IGIS Map Tool you can easily convert – GeoJSON to GeoTIFF. You can also do other GIS Data Conversion using this tool.

Convert KML to TopoJSON

KML or Keyhole Markup Language is a collection of geospatial data on map and commonly used in Google Earth or google services. TIFF (also known as Tagged Image File Format) is a file format for transferring, storing, and displaying raster images. Scanned aerial photography and maps, as well as digital satellite imagery and other geographic data, can be found in this file format.

A TopoJSON file format is a format that encodes topology. TopoJSON is an extension of GeoJSON. This format contains both geospatial data (arcs) and attribute data. In contrast to other GIS formats TopoJSON uses arcs. Arcs are sequences of points, while line strings and polygons are defined as sequences of arcs.

You can convert KML to TopoJSON  file using IGIS Map Tool. You can also use it for other GIS data Conversion.

Shapefile to GeoTIFF – Vector to Raster Conversion

Shapefile is a vector data format for storing geographical data and associated attribute information. It is developed and regulated by ESRI as open specification for data interoperability among ESRI and other GIS software products. Shapefile can be point, line, or polygon features.

TIFF (also known as Tagged Image File Format) is a file format for transferring, storing, and displaying raster images. Scanned aerial photography and maps, as well as digital satellite imagery and other geographic data, can be found in this file format.

GeoTIFF is a public domain metadata standard which allows georeferencing information to be embedded within a TIFF file. The potential additional information includes projections, coordinate systems, ellipsoids, datums, and everything else necessary to establish the exact spatial reference for the file.

Map Matching

Hello GIS learner today in this post we are introducing term Map matching is the linking or matching of observed raw GPS signals shown in below image with green color points with the road segments which the GPS signals actually corresponds. The coordinates of GPS observations are close to the road map but not exactly on it. So map matching is process taking input as raw GPS data and giving output as the actual position of road network.

Create your Own Customized Map and Share with Your Clients using IGIS Map Tool.

Why we need Map Matching system?

Now what is the need of map matching, why don’t we use raw data as it is. Map matching problems become complex when the raw GPS data travelled a multi lane road network, even manually distinguish is difficult. Map Matching is used in navigation. Now in the below image you can see the GPS signals in blue navigation but the route is different. In this observation any body can confused with these GPS signals on multi lane. Suppose if you are following these points then you get puzzled when many lanes running simultaneously. It’s a preprocessing method in GIS applications.

Map Matching

In Traffic flow Analysis and in directions Map Matching is useful factor. Aligning GPS across route is termed as Map Matching.

What is bearing angle and calculate between two Points

In geometry angles are measured regardless of direction or orientation as in trigonometry we measure angle by rotating anti clockwise. Here x-axis is (0) zero degree and y-axis is at 90 degree. So in this article we get familiar with What is bearing and calculate angle between two points. In GIS bearing angle is used for navigation or direction.

Online Tool To Calculate Bearing Angle and Distance To Make Route

Bearing is a direction measured from north and it tracks angle in clockwise direction with north line which means north represents zero degree, east is 90 degrees, south is 180 degrees and west is 270 degrees.

Bearing angle at a point with respect to north at P if we measured clockwise then we see in gif is 065 degrees and at Q it is 300 degrees.

What is bearing and calculate angle between two points

A bearing is used to determine direction of one point relative to another point. You can see in  gif given below.

What is bearing and calculate angle between two points

Bearing of two points

Formula to Find Bearing or Heading angle between two points: Latitude Longitude is

β = atan2(X,Y),

For  variable Ysin(toRadians(lo2-lo1)) *  cos(toRadians(la2))

and variable Xcos(toRadians(la1))*sin(toRadians(la2)) – sin(toRadians(la1))*cos(toRadians(la2))*cos(toRadians(lo2-lo1))
